Shaping
I am completely unclear about what the latest software can programme into the machine (May 2022).
1. Does the machine only produce rectangles? To create a sweater must one cut and sew? Beanies and tank tops are shown on the advertising ... Can you actually produce garments?
2. What is the maximum width in cms of a scarf/shawl one can programme currently?
3. When is the next software update due?
Thank you.

The current version of the software does indeed have the capability to design garments with increases and decreases which are required for the creation of shaped garments.
You can see below the tooling which easily allows you to select the difference stitch types, as well as carry out transfers of stitches from front to back and back to front which, as you know is how shaping can be achieved on a flatbed knitting machine.
We have successfully shaped simple garments using both increases and decreases, and OJ you may want to comment more on this, as I know you have also done shaping work on the Kniterate Machine.
Maximum width in CM of course will depend on the knit, but the machine's max width is 36 inches.
Gerard-Rubio maybe you can give info on the software?
Hope this helps

As a follow on from the above...
The next version of the software, according to this blog article from Kniterate should include the ability to use a 'template', and knit from that without having to programme the shaping yourself.
If you want to design your own garments, with you own shapes - The software is perfectly capable of shaping the garments.
If you want to be able to produce from a template of designs then its going to need the next version of the software, and then the appropriate templates.

Hi Selima Gurtler! As Robert Ingemarsson says the current software is capable of shaping. Though only a rectangle template is available at this time in the design app, increases and decrease can be programmed one operation at a time. I'll post a few swatch pics a little later.
Here's a video on the support platform for decreasing jersey.

Thank you OJ and Robert. I await to hear when the next software is due.
What is the lead time after purchase for the machine?

Selima Gurtler Not the best photos, but this full fashioned shaping was programmed in the design app. I'll be going into details in a future class. These are only a few of the possibilities.
Also see this pic and this video on the Kniterate IG feed for short row possibilities.

Thank you OJ. All noted.
Can Gerard give me the date of the next software update and lead time for delivery, please?
Thank you.

Hi Selima,
The next software update is expected for July. I will reach out to you privately to gather more information about where you are based to provide an estimation for the delivery.
Thanks, Gerard

For this that are interested, using the techniques that OJ has demonstrated for decreases and increases we have knitted our first jumper.

Currently, the software version that is used for the design of the garments has the capability of going up and down in size which is required to create the shaped garments that are required. Here is some of the tooling that you can see below, which easily allows you to select different stitch types, as well as perform transfers of stitches from front to back and back to front on a flatbed knitting machine, which is how shaping can be achieved on a flatbed knitting machine.
