A serger / overlocker is a type of sewing machine that can cut surplus fabric to create a clean stitch. It requires less skill than the linking machine and it is a quick assembly method, but as the machine is not made for connecting knitted panels, the results are not as good as hand sewing or linking. The serger / overlocker uses 3 to 5 polyester sewing threads. Taking the stitching out is time consuming and will leave your knit to unravel.
You can use a serger / overlocker for cut & sew projects.
