The yarn feeders hold the yarns and are moved across the needle beds by the carriage. The carriage can pick up one yarn feeder at a time, and a yarn feeder can hold up to two separate yarns (see: plating).
- Carrier rail
- Carrier bow
- Guide VIII
- Knitting hole
- Plating slit
- Yarn clamp
- Knife
Note: Guide VIII is positioned on the left hand side of the the yarn feeders because the yarn is coming from the left. Never use the guides on the right hand side, as this causes friction between the yarn and the yarn feeder which can result in the yarn breaking or dropping stitches.
