Teething problems

I have tried running my machine for the first time today and we tried to run the machine sample to see how our yarn fabric compared to that of the one in the machine when we got it. The machine dropped stitches in a number of places. I have some photos to send. The fabric is really tight compared to the factory sample, we have used a pure wool fingering weight yarn and all I can describe it as is cruelty to yarn! We suspect tension may play a part we have it set at its loosest at the tension brakes as we had tried before and it kept snagging. Also on this occasion the roller did not pick up the fabric. Any ideas on what to try next? We had tried running the Kniterate scarf and kept getting errors with it too which at first we thought might have been to do with the halo on the yarn so we swapped over to alternative yarn without success. Fingering weight is 4 ply which may be a tad heavy for the machine. You can just get away knitting the beanie with that weight of yarn

Suggest you try yarn thanks nm 7 - that should give you a better option.

As with every design, it needs to be adjusted for the thickness and composition of the yarn you are using.

The fact that the yarn is tight suggests your yarn is too thick as @... states :)

Thank you Robert and Antony. We’ve got some new yarns to try and hopefully should be able to get something this week but if not are there any yarn brands that are recommended? We are keen to stick to pure wools if we can and ideally as locally sourced as we can (we’re based in Northern Ireland so U.K. or Ireland).
