Raglan Decreases
I have been trying to do a raglan style decrease today for the first time since the software update, and get no further than the first set of decreases (one on each side of the knit) before I get a compiler error. I have deleted and restarted several times and looked really carefully at what I am doing and can't spot any errors, but every time I add the second set of decreases I get the same compiler error.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is it something to do with the update or am I doing something wrong? Here is a screen shot - any help would be much appreciated Jipke Lezwijn Gerard Rubio !

OK, I have got it to work if I knit 2 rows between decreases, but I'm not sure why it wouldn't work with only one row. I am only using one colour so no problem with carriage direction...

Hi Cadenzaclothes,
Thank you for reaching out! I can't spot an immediate issue either, would you mind sharing a screenshot of the error that comes up when you try to compile the design?
Thank you!

Hi Cadenzaclothes,
I'm glad you got it working! Would you mind still sharing the error that you got so I can look into this further?
Thank you!

Hi Jipke Lezwijn,
Here is the design with 2 knit rows and a valid pattern alert, followed by what happens if I delete one row -
Having got the design to work by putting 2 knit rows between decrease rows, I knitted it successfully on the machine, but it needed to be a bit wider. So I replicated the design, but even when I copy and paste the decreases from the first design, which worked, I can't get it to validate. Here is what happens -
The stitch which is hidden by the text box shows Transfer/Receive, as it should. I have been along the entire row with the mouse to make sure that something 'invisible' isn't the problem, but every space shows Miss/Miss.
Earlier I did have an issue when a space the should have shown as Miss/Miss showed as either transfer or receive - sorry I can't remember which.
This is very frustrating as I had no problems whatsoever with increases and decreases using the previous iteration of the app. I don't suppose there is a link to the old app???
Many thanks,
Debbie

I managed to get it to compile by assembling parts and editing the first trial file, but when I added a bind on this happened -
It's really not my day :-(

Hi Cadenzaclothes,
Just wanted to let you know that we are in the final stage of testing for the fix of the bug with transferring stitches. I expect an update to follow soon, hopefully still this week, and will let you know once it's live.
In the process of testing we discovered an issue with the bind-off, and looking at your last post again I see you deleted a row in the bind-off, which is something I did too. This is what breaks the bind-off module and thus causes errors. One potential way to get around this for now, while we're working on it, is to knit the single jersey on the rear bed, if that's possible for you.
Best,
Jipke

That's great news Jipke Lezwijn. Thank you! I'm not sure what you are referring to in the bind-off though?

Oh, I think I spoke too quickly Cadenzaclothes! I'll explain the issue I found anyway, in case this is something you've done as well.
I made a tiny program to show the issue. My main knitting is 4 stitches by 4 rows. The bind-off module then adds the rest (2 rows single jersey front bed, 1 row single jersey rear bed, transferring everything to the rear bed and the again a row of single jersey rear bed).
I took out row 7, which caused the bind-off module to break. It seems any structural changes to the bind-off cause errors.
Hope that helps!

Jipke Lezwijn OK I don't think this is something that I have had an issue with. I have bought an electric Hague linker and am now doing all my bind offs on that as I couldn't get past dropped stitches in the bind off.
I have a question that you might be able to help with. I am knitting a 200 stitch wide cabled piece and I keep getting dropped stitches in the same place. I have checked the needles and jacks and everything seems to be ok. The stitch drops during the transfer from the front bed back to the rear bed just after making the cable. It only happens on this one needle, even though the cable pattern is repeated 6 times across the width of the piece, so it can't be due to roll down or stitch size... Any suggestions as to what I could try, please???

That's an interesting one Cadenzaclothes.. When you check the needles, do you also check if they can slide up and down easily? Sometimes a needle doesn't run as smoothly and it can cause issues.

I will have a look and let you know.... Thanks!

There didn't really seem to be anything wrong with the movement of the needle on the front or back bed, but I changed them anyway, and since then the dropped stitch has only happened once on 3 pieces, whereas before it would happen on every piece. So that was an improvement, if not a cure! Thank you! If it still continues to occur, even just occasionally, might it be something else as well?

Cadenzaclothes That's great news already! I'll list a few things that I would check out in this situation.
At what speed do you do the transfers? I usually set the speed to 60 for rows of transfers, 100 max, as going faster can be dangerous in terms of dropped stitches, or even broken needles if you're going really fast. Considering the majority of your transfers are fine, I think it's unlikely that this will be the issue but it might be worth testing lower speeds.
Are both beds well-oiled?
Do the needles around the transferring needle transfer as well or have they been holding stitches for a while already? If there's more strain on adjacent stitches, it may influence the transfer. Potentially this could be solved with a bit less takedown.
Is it possible to see what happens if you knit really slowly? That would give you the most information, but it is probably hard to see due to the brushes.

SUCCESS! I have spent all afternoon repeat knitting this design and it hasn't dropped a stitch, so I think the dropped stitch in the first knit was a fluke. Very pleased we got it sorted out. Thank you for your help! :-)
