Needles don't pick up the thread

    Hi Racer

    I hope you are well.

The file that comes in the SD card with the machine is not the scarf, but the warm-up file. The scarf file is available for download from the shared drive folder.

You are right, the scarf file can't be opened in the app, since we don't have a .buck or .json file for it, unfortunately. It was created a long time ago, even before the app existed. Therefore, the settings cannot be adjusted in the software.

The file settings are correct for a specific yarn. This is normal, as each yarn requires its own settings.

Could you please share the type of yarn you are using? Which of the yarn feeders is failing to knit? How are you holding the yarns before you start knitting? Can you share a video of the problem?

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

    Thanks!

    Hello Ariadna,

Thank you very much for your answer!

We ended up setting the thread tension as low as possible everywhere and we got the best result so far. The scarf is knitted, but there are still a few gaps between the waste yarn and the cast on. We use 7Nm cotton as yarn. Do you have any idea why we keep those gaps, even though the rest of the scarf is knitted properly?

    Hi Racer

Could it be that the draw thread was not correctly caught by the first needles at its introduction?

Could you please send a picture of the knit?

If this is the problem, please make sure you catch the yarns as shown in this video before you start a knit:

Hi Racer, welcome. From what Kniterate has said elsewhere, the file on the SD card is usually the warm-up file, not the actual scarf, and the older scarf file may not be editable in the app because it was made before the app existed. If the waste yarn knits but the cast-on yarn floats above the beds, I would first check whether the draw thread or first cast-on yarn is being properly caught by the first needles when it is introduced. I would also try a proper swatch with the exact yarn you are using, because these files are usually tuned for a specific yarn and tension. If you can share the yarn type, feeder number, and a short video or photo of the first cast-on rows, that would probably make it much easier to diagnose.
