From DAK9 to Kniterate - Load txt file pattern
Hi there!
I have a couple of questions regarding the command Load txt file pattern :
1/ Can it be used to transfer 3 colored jacquard that has been previously made in DAK9 or is it better to use the Birdseye jacquard and start directly with a png file?
2/ If we can use this option to transfer pattern from DAK9, I think I am missing something. Every time I try to change the yarn in the “Pattern import defaults”, I am not able to change yarn 1 that is added by default to the #1 line. If I do so, I lose one of the colour and my pattern becomes a 2 coloured jacquard.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Lila Rousselet,
As you may have observed, the Load txt file pattern command imports files as single-bed knits, i.e., it separates the different colors and generates the front bed stitches, but it doesn't create any backing, which results in floats in the back, which may be too long depending on the design. With 2-color designs, we have the option of making the design “reversible”, meaning it will fill the rear needles with the yarn not at work in the front and create a double-sided fabric. However, this does not work for designs with more than 2 colors, or at least not more than 2 per row.
The Birdseye jacquard command is the most appropriate for +2 colors.
Please let us know if you have further questions.
Thanks!
