Community Call
Hi All,
I have had my machine for a few months now and am like most, I am having issues which take time to resolve.
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in having a regular community zoom call so we can share problems and solutions and use our collective knowledge to help each other?
Let me know if this would be of interest and we can get something set up.

I would be interested Laurence. I am sure this machine is amazin . I have not had much success myself. Happy to join in a group chat. Think that would be beneficial share ideas and resolve problems.

Hi Laurence I'd be interested and happy to join a group chat. Sometimes it can be frustrating troubleshooting the issues in isolation. A zoom call will certainly help

thanks @... Catriona
Lets get something sorted and we can see how it goes and if others want to join.
How does next Friday morning UK time suit? Say 10 am?

Hi Laurence, 10am uk time will work for me

Hi We would also love to join - There are lots of leanings people can have from the COmmunit, and we would love to promote community partnership so lets try and get this happening regularly :)

What a great time to start the community call. Just when the software has been updated. Looking forward to this great idea. Big problem i have always had is the bind off. I see on the updated software you can bind off on both beds. This is what i would like help with.

Hi Catriona
Suggest you start by looking at the bindoff options which now give you more control on the roller, and give syou the ability to change the roll as the bind-off gets knitted. Let us know how you get on and what works for your yarn type so we can all learn from your experimentation.

Good morning, that is a super important initiative - thank you for giving it a good go. I can not make it today, but would love to join next time.
Wishing you a great first community call!

Thank you again for setting the call up and to those able to join/contribute. As the new kid on the block it was reassuring and greatly appreciated.
I've been working on a Yarn Recipe worksheet, capturing the yarn specs/mfg and machine settings based on the knit type, usage (i.e., draw, waste, knit) or action being performed. Glad to share when I get around to completing this weekend.

Hi Laurence thank you for organising this group sorry i had to leave early see you at the next meeting.

Thanks everyone for joining. It was really useful for me just to be able to chat though some issues. Definitely feel more confident after it.
Michael Ferritto thanks for pulling the worksheet together. Might be worth speaking to OJ as I know in her course there is a yarn matrix with some key information about thicknesses etc.
For the next call, can people share when they are normally free and we can get a regular time in the diary.

Hi
Great to chat to everyone earlier - Looking forward to a regular meetup to start building a kniterate ommunity of people :):)
Laurence let us know how you get on with build 1.0.4 which is now available (You may need to clear your browser cache)…
Wondering if a community slack group could be useful for real time collaboration and to build a community ?

The file definitely looks right. Will be able to test when back in the studio on Monday.
I think slack is a great idea. It’s much easier to collaborate and share images on there.0 -
Spoke with my wife this morning and gave her the following problem set to host a community of practice:
- Low/no cost
- User friendly
- Multiple managers
- Collaborative
- Able to post files/photos
- Searchable
She recommended Reddit and could have it up and running this weekend. Thoughts?

The only think I see missing is realtime collaboration (such a slack) which could really be useful to connect people.
What would reddit add that the Knitterate forum does not already have? We can search, upload phots , discuss on this forum already..

Im not sure Reddit would be right. slack offers everything we need and is free. I also think it’s more secure and offers instant chat which would be really helpful.

It depends what the group is trying to achieve.
Forum
Already available here so would suggest this forum already provices the services for community posts / search etcFiles
Already provided by Kniterate with google drive (A global file area for anyone to connect to)
Real time collaboration
Not available here, Slack fits the bill, but 90 days of content only but fits the real time collaboration requirement.
The mix of both could work, and would keep community content in one place?0 -
Fair enough and reasonable. It was the realtime collaboration I was missing. I defer to the seasoned veterans and ready to sign up. Again, can't thank everyone enough. You're an amazing community.

Happy to setup an Slack Channel for ‘Kniterate Owners' if people want, and then share admin rights and moderate as required. Who would be willing to be an Admin / Moderate?
0 -
I'd be happy to share admin/moderate duties. I'm siitting in front of a computer most waking house US Central Time Zone.

ive create a slack Community
content is only held for 3 months so its for realtime collaboration
This forum should be used to hold long term content
if anyonee wants a link to the community, then let us know and we can send you an email invite.
mark Michael Ferritto I will add you as admins once you join
I have made channel creation for moderators only at the moment (but for discussion) otherwise it becomesa complete free-for-all - there is an admin channel for discussion - We probably need to create some other channels as people start using the forum

Has something happened to slack? I can’t seem to get in now.

It’s working. Were you prompted to setup two factor authentication? That popped up this morning when I tried to login.
