We'll find 2 different types of commands in the Layers menu:
- Canvas commands
- Global/ local commands
CANVAS COMMANDS:
They generate the canvas on which you will create your design (Canvas) or allow you to import an image to start working on it without having to start from scratch like a DesignaKnit 9 (DAK9) exported .txt file (Import txt file pattern). For this reason they should be the first step for any design. They will be placed on top of the stack, so they will become the base for your design, and therefore all following actions will make changes on them. If you use “Load txt file pattern” as a base you can hide or delete the default Canvas from your stack.
GLOBAL/ LOCAL COMMANDS
These commands work on the canvas or layer that you have created with either of the commands above. They will automatically be placed underneath the “base” image (and then at the bottom of the stack as we keep adding more of them). Each new command added to the stack will affect all commands above it, which means that going back to change any option from a previous command will “disable” all the commands used thereafter, changing their appearance to light gray. To have them back in action, they need to be reviewed by clicking on the pencil symbol and checking that the selections or options you had chosen still apply.
